Scientifically-superior insoles.

LOU insoles Insolia patented technologies gently guide the feet through the natural sequence of motion without restriction, pain or discomfort.

Heel Strike.
With each step, the lateral (outer) side of the heel makes contact with the ground. More often that not, our heel bone, which is neither flat nor uniformly shaped, makes contact with a flat and uniformly shaped surface or insole.

This mismatch in shape results in unnatural and undue pressure on the ball of the foot, the heel bone and the soft tissue of the foot (including the plantar fascia).

This increase in pressure can:
* Cause heel pain;
* Aggravate plantar fasciitis;
* Lead to knee, leg and lower back pain;
* Induce foot fatigue; and
* Trigger biomechanical issues and poor posture.

LOU insoles feature an anatomically-correct contour that matches the irregular shape of the heel bone and positions the heel so that it is vertically aligned for improved stability and increased comfort.

Shock Absorption.
When the heel strikes the ground, soft tissue play a critical role in absorbing impact—up to 110% of body weight during walking and as much as 200% during running - and spreading the force across the foot shifting weight from the outside of the heel toward the inside.

LOU Insoles feature an asymmetric forward edge that supports the plantar fascia and surrounding soft tissue and helps dissipate force without pain.

Arch lift.
As the soft tissue stabilizes the impact, the big toe joint drops extending the toe upward. This joint drop pulls the plantar fascia and other soft tissue in the mid foot tight, which lifts the arch (like a spring being loaded) in preparation for propulsion.

LOU insoles feature a depression allowing the big toe joint to fully drop, the toe to fully flex upward and the arch to fully lift with little to no pressure on the heel. LOU insoles also act as a centering device as the arch is lifted ensuring proper alignment without compromising its full range of natural dynamic motion.

Heel off.
The heel then lifts and the entire foot becomes a rigid lever, pivoting around the ball of the foot.  The arch recoils, releasing stored energy and directing force through the forefoot beginning with the little toes to propel the body forward efficiently.

LOU Insoles flexing allows the heel to fully lift at the precise time, reducing discomfort associated with aggravated plantar fascia and heel growth plates.

Big toe springboard.
The big toe is the final point of contact with the ground before lift-off. It acts as a springboard or fulcrum that transmits energy into the ground to propel the body forward.

LOU Insoles allow full toe flexion to maximize push-off force.

More natural movement.

Less effort and increased comfort.

We commissioned a study on the metabolic efficiency for those using LOU insoles as compared to those using standard insoles sold in athletic shoes.

The study was conducted by Wales Centre for Podiatric Studies, School of Health Sciences at the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff, UK and measured oxygen demand, heart rate, number of steps and comfort.

With LOU insoles,
:: Oxygen demand was reduced by 9.1% and
:: Heart rate dropped by 5.5%.

In addition, the number of steps required to get to a specific distance was reduced by 1.9%; overall comfort increased by 19.2%; and forefoot comfort increased by 27.3%.

LOU insoles are simply better.
